On the road to success obstacles are the ruled not the exception.
The success of a person depends fundamentally on his/her perseverance to deal with the daily set-backs without giving up the goal.
Losers give up when hitting an obstacle. Winners change directions and strategy until they got where they wanted.
Coaching
interpersonal, personal, methodical competency
I. Goal/Vision/Key Idea
A. Reorientation/Reinvention
The goal of CvB LIFE LONG L-EARNING is to accompany or to collect from turning points in their lives, with the aim to ease their reorientation/reinvention and to speed up this process.
B. Thought, Behaviour and Emotional Pattern
The work of a coach consists of raising the awareness of the person seeking an answer to one or a conglomerate of questions. He or she is often not aware of their thought, behaviour and emotional pattern. Using the individual willpower, his/her curiosity, the understanding of past experiences and last but not least the individual emotional intelligence it is an exciting and invigorating way to find new and alternative patterns to handle new and common situations with a different while still authentical approach.
C. Increase in Value
The increased awareness of social and sociological structures, the freedom and protection but also the limitation they are to our lives, is an enormous increase in value for us in our private and professional lives.
The private individual is able to continue developing his/her family or partnership and accompany it through different stages of change consciously and actively.
The professional individual is able to better understand and to be understood by his/her clients, bosses, colleagues, employees and suppliers.
The individual as a whole is better capable to make use of all his/her qualities with out sacrificing his-/herself or someone else. The word “career” has become a totally new dimension. It stands for a holistic approach concerning harmony and fulfilment in all existential areas of our individual daily lives.
People who ask themselves the following questions are making holistic careers :
“What makes me happy?”
“Who makes me happy?”
And can answer:
“What I am doing!” “The people I am surrounded by!”
These people do not hesitate to ask these questions over and over again at different stages and places in their lives. Should the answer be negative they tackle the challenge to change the factors, which are responsible for their unhappiness/discomfort and would stop them to make their holistic careers.
This is asking for a lot of creativity, even more energy and most of all courage. Every one of us carries enough of all these virtues in ourselves to make the necessary changes to be happy, satisfied and successful. It is enough to change just one little factor in order to change a whole system.
However, often enough we get into our own way or we are under the impression the world around us, the media, our family, sociological conventions know better then we do, what is best for us. We believe to know, while in reality we have never checked, that our wishes and desires are in conflict with those expectations. We are affright to be tempted if we even dare to find out if our ambitions, needs and desires are in conflict with those expectations.
Coaching supports people in finding out, developing and living their individual holistic careers and opens up the sources of a lot of creativity, even more energy and the enormous amount of courage by choosing an integrative method, which takes the surrounding world with it on the journey to a holistic life.
Body, soul and spirit are the sources which give us the necessary creativity, energy and courage, is only one of these sources submerged, ignored, neglected be it through ignorance, negligence, unhappiness, alienation, illness or an accident, etc., you are missing an essential part to start your individual holistic career.
Therefore, another fundamental part of coaching is the critical examination of ones needs, thoughts and emotions. However, it is only possible to examine something of which we are fully aware.
II. Coaching Need
The need in professional or private matters becomes a development need, if the need can be satisfied by making useful and conscious changes in the way a person ticks in cognitive and affective situation. A coaching need can only be something which can be taken up by development methods. The need has to be recognised by the coachee and the coachee needs to have the strong desire to make a change.

Often only in teamwork with the coach we are able to recognise how we think and which result this kind of thought process dictates us. Only when we have reached this status of self-awareness we are suddenly in the position to make a choice. We are able to make a conscious decision if we want to use the old decision making process or if we rather create a new thought and let it succeed.
There are questions and thoughts – a needs for well being – which can be served by finding the inner balance of body, soul and spirit. Furthermore, there are moments in everybody’s life, when certain questions need to be answered but the usual thinking and solution finding methods are no longer satisfying and only give you a limited spectrum of solutions and answers. The “d-evelopment” out of certain structure bears some hindrances on the way to new, different, better answers. In order to establish consciously or unconsciously the balance in life (again) we need a push, a hint, some explanations, some questioning – clarifying our script for life, and we need support to widen, change or even erase our script for life. The need for a competent partner to (re-)establish our balance comes at different points in our lives on and off again. A coach can be such a competent partner.
The imbalance manifests itself in one, two or all three the following components:
- Body Office invalids: one-sided physical strain, emotional and/or mental strain – physical pain, limited concentration, aggression, mental exhaustion.
- Soul Human relations are marked by distance, indifference, conflicts, ignorance, misunderstandings in private and professional circumstances– physical tensions, skin irritations, general frustration, impatience, fatigue, loss of motivation and perspective.
- Spirit Communication & behaviour do rarely lead to the expected actions or reactions. Certain behaviours and character types are incompatible with oneself or create reciprocal resistance, leading to frustration, create mental blocks and avoidance of certain situations.
